Caring and Sharing:
Each year about 18,000 Americans are diagnosed with brain tumors. In 1985, three families in the Lehigh Valley received this news. They soon found out that there were few resources available to those affected by brain tumors. They supported each other and expanded their circle of support. in May of 1987, with the guidance of health care providers, they formed the Brain Tumor Support Group of the Lehigh Valley.
Through much hard work, the Support Group has grown into the Brain Tumor Foundation of the Lehigh Valley.
The team that makes up the leadership of the Brain Tumor Foundation consists of lay people, nurses, physicians, clergy, and social workers. The health care professionals on the term are experts in patient care and can share with you an in-depth knowledge of brain tumors and their treatments.
We have may services that can help you and your care-givers through this difficult time.
Special Needs:
People with brain tumors and their care-givers have special needs. A brain tumor may affect many aspects of a person's functioning (thinking abilities,
emotions, personality, physical abilities) in either obvious or subtle ways.
The goal of the Brain Tumor Foundation of the Lehigh Valley is to help people cope with their brain tumors and related problems. The Support Group Meetings will give you a chance to have contact with both professionals from diverse backgrounds, as well as, lay people whose lives have been changed by brain tumors.
We know you have questions about treatment, the future, and how to handle family and person situations.
We can help.
